This year also, Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) witnessed a colorful start with the most exciting activities planned all through the festival. Inspired by the theme One World, One Family, One Festival DSF is one of the most extravagant festivities in UAE when people from different corners of the world come to take a look at the this vibrant and lively event. As universal brotherhood, happiness, excitement, joy and adventure became the signature trademarks of Dubai Shopping Festival, the Festival itself became a tribute to the inherent ambition and strength of the people of the United Arab Emirates.
One of the main attractions of DSF are the Bazaars of the World at Al Seef Street which recreates the aura and magic of world-renowned traditional souqs of the Middle East including Khan Al Khalili of Egypt, El Madina Souq (Syria), Samsara Souq (Sana) samareen Souq (Yemen), Samareen Souq (Morocco) and Shah Souq (Iran). The street also showcases the developments of Islamic culture with workshops on crafting, painting, carpet weaving, copper engraving and many more. The Carpet Oasis organisewd at the same place exhibits the work of artisans from Iran, Middle East, India and the world., with more than 150,000 hand-made carpets for sale. Time: (10am - 10pm)
Global Village located at the Emirates Road is one of the fascinating places to visit during the DSF. Daily open from 4pm till 12 midnight highlights the theme of redefining the world and is the venue for souvenir shopping.
The art and cultural festivals include artistic and cultural presentations like the Fazza Youla Championships at the Global Village from December 16 to February 2. Other attractions are the 6th Arabic Poetry gathering as well as the Kavi Sammelan and Mushaira - Urdu poetry gatherings at the Global Village.
Food Connoisseurs will have no reason to complain as the DSF Food Festival offers some delectable treats to them. A unique event titled Food-e-tainment takes place from January 13 to 19 at Zabeel Park. Also a part of the Food Festival will be the third Cyber Food Festival at Dubai Internet City from noon to 3pm daily.
All those who would like to witness history in the making should head to Al Safa Park, where attempts will be made to break the world records for the longest game of Chinese whispers, the longest line of footprints, the largest house key, largest buffet comprising of 505 dishes, the biggest mattress and many more. This Record Breaking Festival will be held at the Al Safa Park from Jan13 - Jan 19
The Heritage Festival will have several cultural and heritage events showcasing glimpses of the past and chapters from UAE history at the Dubai Heritage and Diving Village in Al Shindagah.
Just like the last year, DSF, this year also promises everyone to confer all kinds of fun and frolic in spite of age, nationality, caste, or creed. Millions of dirhams worth prizes are up for grabs in raffle draws such as the daily Lexus Mega Raffle, the daily Grand Nissan Raffle and the Daily Gold Rush. There are luxury cars to give away and loads of gold that seem to await your kitty!
